The Regeneration of Ballymun
CAP aims to support and resource the Ballymun community to effectively articulate it's needs in relation to the regeneration of the area, at the same time developing a model that can influence future developments nationally and internationally. Objectives CAP will seek to have representation on all committees concerned with the regeneration of Ballymun in order to promote an anti-poverty focus in the decision-making process. We will work to ensure that the most disadvantaged people in the area are part of the decision-making process. CAP will actively support the community to learn from other experiences of similar urban regeneration programmes in Ireland and Europe. In this respect, CAP have just completed an action research project that sought to assess the needs of community groups in relation to the regeneration programme. The results of this research are available for download: Click Here CAP will support the establishment of a Community Council / Forum which will engage with all the relevant partners in Ballymun with the aim of improving local participation in the decision making processes within the context of the regeneration. In this respect, CAP have taken a lead role in establishing and supporting the Ballymun Community Organisations Network (BCON). For information on BCON: Click here CAP will promote the establishment of a team of Development Workers with specific responsibility for facilitating community involvement in the regeneration process. CAP will promote the proper resourcing of the community for active involvement in the regeneration process, including seeking technical assistance for local people as appropriate. CAP will work to improve community participation in the changing Ballymun by supporting community groups to develop levels of participation by their members and the users of their services. CAP will undertake a pilot project aimed at developing and demonstrating a model of good practice in relation to community participation. CAP will fully evaluate and document our work in relation to, and experience of, the regeneration process. |
